Gold Medal!

So yesterday was a long and SUCCESSFUL day at the Special Olympics! Chase won 2 first place gold medals (but only one actually counted) and he took one fourth place!

So he was only suppose to compete in the 25 meter dash and the softball throw. In the qualifying rounds a week prior he got disqualified in the 50 meter dash because he stepped out of his lane (they are pretty serious about that stuff). A little ridiculous if you ask me. He is handicap, SO WHAT if he stepped out of his lane! But I suppose they have to set rules and boundries to be fair. I am always in the mind set that Chase has Downs and so he doesn't understand, when in reality everyone there is handicap too, so they can't really make any exceptions. We were pretty bummed when we heard that he wasn't running in the 50 meter dash.

I guess Chase was pretty bummed too, because before we knew it he was out on the track taking his runner's stance in a race he wasn't suppose to be in! At first we were freaking out. We tried to coax him back to us but it didn't work, the only thing we could do now was cheer him on! The gun went off and Chase ran the fastest we have ever seen him run, or at least thats what it seemed. We soon realized the people he was running against were far more severly handicapped than him. But we were just as proud to see him take 1st. He had a huge smile on his face as he crossed the finish line almost like he knew he had out smarted everyone.

Anyways he took 4th place in the 25 meter dash and 1st place in the softball throw.
My favorite part of the day was watching Chase dance on stage with all the other contestants. He has the best dance moves ever! It was a long day but such a fun day to see Chase so happy and loving every moment of it all. We are proud of you Chase! Can't wait for next year's Special Olympics!

Go for the GOLD!

Today my little brother is competing in the Special Olympics at BYU. I am so excited to go watch him WIN the GOLD MEDAL! I hope he tries this time. Sometimes he prefers the attention he gets from losing rather than the attention he would get from winning... I am not sure why, but that is Chase for ya, always keeping you on your toes. The thing is, is that he is actually really atheletic than most Special Ed. kids are not atheletic. He has a real chance at beating everyone in the Special Olympics today. But I just don't think he understands how good he is yet. He is competing in the softball throw and I think the 50 meter dash. So cross your fingers, either way it will be a fun day.

**Just something kinda cute**

My mom was telling me that she was talking to Chase yesterday about the Special Olympics today, she was telling him that "even Grandpa and Grandma Davies were driving from Idaho to come and watch him" and all he said back was "Is Robbie coming?"
Chase loves Robbbie SO MUCH. He could care less if I come, but as long as I bring Robbie with me he is the happiest boy alive. So Robbie is going to try and get work off for a couple hours and come watch his events. Go for the GOLD Chase Davies. We love you!

Radio crushes

One thing that Robbie and I have in common is that we like the same type of music. Neither of us have a specific taste we generally just like what is on the radio. Occasionally there will be a disagreement. But usually we can agree on what radio station we both want to listen to. The only thing that makes me a little crazy is that Robbie can listen to the same song over and over and over and over and never get sick of it. Especially if it is a song he has(re)discovered. He will literally put the song on repeat and I can promise you he will love it more and more each time it plays.

Lately we have been on different kicks, Robbie loves the girl singer Kesha. When her song "Tik Tok" came about everyone loved it. Robbie especially. It's been popular for a few months now and everytime it comes on the radio he listens and sings along! I think he might even know all the lyrics. And he even has his own "favorite part" that he thinks is the best. It is hilarious. "Your Love is My Drug" is making its way up as well. My husband is so COOL!

I have recently become a Justin Bieber fan. He is like 16 or 17? Maybe even younger? Anyways I don't care about his age because I love his voice. There is something so genuine and sweet but powerful about it. I can see why some of his concerts get cancelled because of his crazy fans trampling over each other. He is adorable. I just can't help when I hear one of his songs on the radio to turn it up and belt it out as best I can (I'm still working on the lyrics). I do have to admit though when "Baby Oh" came out it took a lot of convincing for me to believe that it was an actual boy singing. But maybe that is why is songs are so great, because I can match my voice to his.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Kesha and Justin Bieber went on tour together!!? Robbie and I would definietly be attending.

To be an Educated Reader

This week was a busy one for me. Studying for finals, taking finals, working 3 twelve hour shifts, celebrated little brother Caden's 10th birthday, hung out with my 5 lady friends (legit six- is what we call ourselves), finally officially changed my last name to Matthews and last night Robbie and I went to Nickle City with our friends the Kelly's . I kinda like it when the week goes by fast. I look back and everything just seems like a blur and I can't remember what days I did what.

So Thursday, Friday, and Saturday our work was having what is called WREB. It is Boards for the Hygiene students that just graduated. So instead of working in the clinic as a dental assistant they had me help out with WREB. It was from 6:30 a.m. to about 6 p.m. I was assigned to be the check-in assistant. It was a pretty laid back job, I just had to check patients in and out in a very organized and orderly manner. After the first day I got it down pretty good, so Friday I decided I would bring a book. I didn't have much of a selection at our apartment but I did find one that I thought I would try.

I actually really enjoyed reading it and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I haven't seen the movie yet. I heard it was lame. So I am a little iffy on whether or not I should rent it. I did imagine Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried as my main characters though. haha.
And I like Nicholas Sparks. Ya, he can be pretty predictable in his writing. But nonetheless I almost always enjoy his books. I guess I am pretty easy to please when it comes to a mushy love story.

You see I am not much of a reader. I really wish I was. I've really tried to be too. It's on my bucket list to become an educated reader. I've pretty much only read books that are an easy to read with a cute love story. I need to break out of that habit and branch out. I want to read cool books like Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, you know all the books I was suppose to read in AP English but instead I used Cliff Notes. I am horrible I know. Now that I have a Provo library card maybe I can redeem myself and read me some books that will make me intelligent. Thats all.
